Juice cleanse is something I have been procrastinating almost for a year. I have been wanting to do a 2 day juice cleanse for a long long time. 2017 has been full of ups and downs, good and bad experiences, being a couch potato and a lot of binge eating. I have been a procrastinator last entire year in terms of healthy eating and exercising. I wanted to start this year with something productive and thought of doing a juice cleanse.
WHAT IS A JUICE CLEANSE?
Juice cleanse also known as “juice fasting” is a type of a detox program when one is on a liquid diet typically juice diet without having any cooked/uncooked food. You are supposed to have only juices for breakfast, lunch and dinner and abstain yourself from any kind of solid food.
BEFORE THE JUICE CLEANSE
I was determined to start 2018 with a juice cleanse and I chose Buda Juice because I had heard a lot about them when I used to live in Dallas a few month ago.
Before starting the juice cleanse, I brought my body to an alkaline state by cutting down on dairy, acidic foods, processed foods and refined sugar.
I chose the weekend for my cleanse so that I could relax and rest at home without any kind of outside disturbances.
DURING THE JUICE CLEANSE
The juices came in 6 cute glass bottles with a number on the cap. These numbers were associated with a tag that had the name of the juice with all the contents written on it. I also received an envelope with a card that had the order of the juices written on it.
I religiously followed the schedule mentioned on the card which was as follows:
7 am No 01 Green juice: This had cucumber, spinach, celery, apple, kale, ginger, parsley and lemon
10 am No 04 Blue Lemonade: This had cucumber, apple and lemon
1 pm No 2 Red juice: This had celery, apple, beet, parsley and ginger
3 pm No 04 Blue Lemonade: This had cucumber, apple and lemon
5 pm Buda Basilato Soup: this had tomato, cucumber, sea salt, basil and olive oil
7 pm Buda Almond Milk: This had filtered water, almond, vanilla, cinnamon and cardamom
I drank a lot of water throughout the cleanse, gave my body ample of rest and slept for 8 complete hours during the night.
I also had an avocado and lightly steamed veggies for lunch and dinner as my stomach started feeling very empty and these were the only food items I was allowed to have during the cleanse.
THOUGHTS AFTER THE CLEANSE
Before starting the juice cleanse I thought I could easily pull it off as I am used to drinking vegetable juices once a month. However when I started the cleanse, all I could think of is food. I could picture all sorts of pastries and burgers and macarons and pizzas…basically everything that was unhealthy. When you deprive your body of solid food and are on an exclusive liquid diet, the body is not used to fluid food and you tend to get withdrawal symptoms. I thought about quitting when I was half way through my cleanse because I was badly craving solid food, but my hubby motivated me and encouraged me to push myself a little. Having an avocado and steamed veggies also helped a lot. Another thing that helped me was the yummy taste of all the juices. They were very tasty and not as I had expected them to be. I would say listen to your body and don’t be too harsh. I slept for 3 hours in the afternoon and 8 hrs. during the night.
The first day was definitely very challenging and I needed a lot of motivation as I got a little cranky. The second day was slightly better because I was aware of the taste of the juices and my body had got used to them.
I am happy I successfully completed the Buda Juice Cleanse. I feel light, refreshed and energized after the cleanse. The juices were delicious and Buda Juice was very helpful in answering all my questions before the juice cleanse. All the juices come in glass bottles, are kept refrigerated all the time, are certified organic, non-pasteurized and cold-pressed at 35°. They also ship nationwide. I would recommend Buda Juice to all my friends and family. You can find more information about Buda Juice at https://budajuice.com/
Hope you liked my post. I will be back soon with more exciting posts for all of you.
XOXO

January 17, 2018 at 4:17 pmThis is definitely not something I would or ever could do! I’m amazed you did it and did it so well! Especially on the weekend I’ve always thought people did it when they would be super busy so they’d be distracted and not miss the lack of solids

January 17, 2018 at 5:24 pmAwesome. Thanks for sharing the idea. I dont think we have this brand in India but I can use the juice flavors from some other brand to do a juice cleanse for myself.

January 17, 2018 at 11:00 pmI can’t imagine how tough that would be since we are so used to solid food. But congrats on sticking with it! My dad has been wanting to do a juice cleanse, I am going to share this with him.

January 18, 2018 at 2:28 amPrajakta, did you have the expected result of the juice cleansing. This is something that I could do but I must say although it’s two days, it could still be challenging. I will let you know if I do it.

January 18, 2018 at 4:23 pmMust be tough! I think I’d be the same as you and daydream all day about all the food I’m not eating, haha! I am used to having vegetable smoothies, I’ve done it throughout my pregnancy, obviously not at the level of a cleanse, but I’d like to try it once my baby is born.

January 19, 2018 at 8:39 pmI am impressed with your drive when it comes to this. I have heard about doing them, but never taken part in one myself. I do think about them more when I am sick and the only thing I want to have is actually juice.

January 19, 2018 at 11:50 pmThat’s impressive. I never really thought much of these types of cleanses. I think if you do one you need to be sure you have plenty of time to rest and relax with it. Like, do it on a weekend or something.

January 20, 2018 at 1:02 amI have always wanted to try a Juice cleanse as well but afraid I would not be able to function. I am doing a sugar detox right now and it has been so hard. Giving up fruit has become extremely difficult!
