This blog post is in collaboration with Rodney Strong Vineyards. All opinions are always my own.
Rodney Strong is an amazing California based wine company that focuses solely on Sonoma County wine. The weather in Chicago has started getting cold and today I can’t think of a better pairing than wine + pizza + date night at home. Love can be outgoing as well as inbound and when you know you are loved, you are able to handle tough situations, you are more confident, happy and you become strong..Love simply gives you strength to keep moving forward in life! These days since I am on maternity break and my hubby is working from home, we get a lot of “We” time at home and when life gives you ample of “We” time you make a wine and pizza date night out of it! I decided to create a date night set up at home with Rodney Strong Wine. I thought of giving my hubby a surprise and created this simple yet cute set up at home while he was not around for some time.

To prepare for our date night, I ordered some Rodney Strong wine varietals online. As a family owned winery Rodney Strong uses sustainable practices and is officially certified by the California Sustainable Winegrower’s Alliance. You can find a ton more information on their website. We tried the California Chardonnay and Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon and I couldn’t decide which one I liked more! I always gravitate more towards white wines and my hubby towards red wines. However this time around the taste of red wine grew on me. The Sonoma Cab is so refreshing, we loved the dark cherry, plum and notes of baking spices it has! It retails at $22 and you can find it here. We both enjoyed it because we felt it wasn’t as heavy as others we’ve tried in the past. I paired this with a veggie pizza since that’s something we both enjoy on a Friday evening.

Wine is definitely something that sets in mood and enhances an experience. I wanted to add something that wouldn’t compete with our conversation and thought some instrumental jazz or guitar music would be perfect. We had a great time chatting and our wine & pizza date-night ended up being a fun way to spend an evening with my husband and learn about some new varietals of wine. Don’t hesitate to give this a shot and make a stress-free date night to remember — I think next, I’ll be recreating a similar fun evening with a group of girlfriends… Cheers!
