With the advent of the holiday season the entire Chicago city gets converted into a Winter Wonderland! It is the time for festivities, various holiday events and seasonal desserts. With Christmas round the corner, I and my hubby decided to visit the Christkindlmarket in Chicago.
Christmas markets, also known as Weihnachtsmärkte originated in Germany. The Christkindlmarket is a Chicago tradition with more than 1 million visitors each year. It is held at Daley Plaza and is one of the major attractions during the month of December. The market is set up with food stalls and gift shops with short skits, musical and live performances happening in the background.
We visited the market on a Saturday and it was crowded like crazy. The market was buzzing with activities and full of festive atmosphere. There were pretty gift shops with items like handmade soaps, different varieties of cheese, beautiful lamps, candles, Christmas ornaments, unique idols etc. I was amazed to see the plethora of Christmas ornaments that one shop sold. This shop specialized in unique Christmas ornaments and had almost everything on the planet that could think of in the form of ornaments. Here are some pictures that I managed to click.
If you are looking for unique Christmas gifts and are a foodie, this is the perfect place for you. The market had stalls with traditional German beer, bratwurst, varieties of popcorns, hot cocoa and wine etc. Considering the fact that this is one of the major attractions in Chicago, I noticed that food and drinks were not exorbitantly priced. Everything was economical except for the gift items. Gift items were slightly pricey, mainly because these were original items from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Nepal etc.
These are all the pictures that I managed to click. I was unfortunately not able to click any food pictures as the food stalls were too crowded. If you live in Chicago or anywhere nearby, you should definitely visit this place. I was recommended this place by one of friends and I cannot thank her enough for it.
My favorite part of Christmas is the Christmas markets and beautiful exhibits. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all of you in advance. Hope you liked my blog post. What is your favorite part about Christmas? Do let me know in the comments.
Ciao until then. ♥ ♥

December 25, 2017 at 11:36 pmThank You so much Alexine☺️😊. ‘Bier’ is actually also a German word for “Beer” . I can speak German and know for a fact that German and Dutch are quite close. The Christkindlmarket (Christmas Market) is a German tradition and many cities all over the world have now started hosting them during Christmas time. I visited the Chicago Christmas Market for the first time and was surprised to find souvenir shops from Nepal at the market. Happy to know you loved the pictures. Merry Christmas to you and your family💕💕
